Indesign Performance is poor!

Sorry guys but you really know how to interrupt a working day.

The 18.0 Version is really slow, zoom & hand, rulers work sometimes - sometimes not. The whole interface is like a hick-up.

I am suffering the same problem. As far as I see it is connected to the latest DropBox update in my case. But I am not sure. Activity Montor shows, that my computer is blocked by dropbox activities.

hi there,

i don't work with dropbox, so maybe it's anouther issue with similar results?
Our complete IT is sick and suffering a lack of employes, so it'l take a while until i get my CreativeCloudCleaner installed (as i haven't got any insatllation rights...aaarg..) and will be able to go further steps as Eugene told me to do. I'll keep you updated.

Can you please start up in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists.

If it is not persisting there is a 3rd party app causing an issue.

i just deleated the whole programme and reinstalled. Now it works and i "only" have to recover my short-cuts.

We are users like yourself and most of us had not had this issue -if it was so, the forum would be flooded with similar issues. 

 

I understand you're frustrated. 

 

Can you tell us your OS and your system specs.

Also any other information - how is it slow - or just generally.

 

Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Hi,

here my specs:

OS Monterey 12.5.1
Apple M1 Pro

32GB Workspace

 

When i want to scroll between pages, only the rulers move, but the pages freeze. Same when i try to choose pages via pages-window: nothing happens for about 30 sec. The document I'm working on has 17MB/108 pages.
Thank you for the resetting-advice - i'll gonna check is.
