Sorry guys but you really know how to interrupt a working day.
The 18.0 Version is really slow, zoom & hand, rulers work sometimes - sometimes not. The whole interface is like a hick-up.
We are users like yourself and most of us had not had this issue -if it was so, the forum would be flooded with similar issues.
I understand you're frustrated.
Can you tell us your OS and your system specs.
Also any other information - how is it slow - or just generally.
Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.
Further info and instructions here if needed:
Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
You can also install a previous version of INDesign
here my specs:
OS Monterey 12.5.1
Apple M1 Pro
When i want to scroll between pages, only the rulers move, but the pages freeze. Same when i try to choose pages via pages-window: nothing happens for about 30 sec. The document I'm working on has 17MB/108 pages.
Thank you for the resetting-advice - i'll gonna check is.
Ok - let us know how you get on.
If it is just this document that is slow to respond then there is a good chance that it is corrupted. Exporting to IDML and then resaving it back to INDD would help remove the corruption, you could try that as well
the document is fine. The reset helped a bit and i can work with it for now, but the response is still far away fom fluid as there are kind of hick-ups and short cuts like Shift-page up need about 20sec. Think i reinstall later that day.. Thank you very much for your support! - Seb
If you go to Preferences and turn off GPU performance - does it improve?
nope. i did that already yesterday. But'll have a look where i can improve the performance further more.
I totally agree with Eugene who gave you so many solutions, surely one of them should help.
I totally agree with you. I have the same problem. Very irritating and frustrating.
Can you please start up in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists.
If it is not persisting there is a 3rd party app causing an issue.
i just deleated the whole programme and reinstalled. Now it works and i "only" have to recover my short-cuts.
