Question

InDesign pop up window constant

I've been working a few InDesign documents where if I do anything at all I get constantly interupted by a pop up window that disappears immediately so I can't even see it before disappearing. For instance, when the pop up appears when scaling something, the transform will reset, so I have to start over every time. Or, if I'm moving something the popup happens and the object will release and I have to re-click it to pick it up again and continue moving it.

The pop up happens every few seconds. It's a small popup window that's showing up in the middle of the screen that shows up for a couple hundredths of a second and interupts my current task.

I'm running InDesign on Windows 10, brand-new computer. I can supply hardware specs if that's part of the issue but that seems unlikely.

Thanks

Hello Trogglus!

I had problems with nearly every version of suitcase (some where indesigns fault, some suitcases). But the last error, the same as you have - was the end for me. I talked with the fast an friendly support from extensis, they told me some solutions but nothing worked. The windows kept popping up.(and font activation was buggy and slow as hell) It slowed down indesign to an unusable point. The last times it also freezed.

I tried everything the support told me. nothing worked. i formated my whole system. reinstalled everything. the errors kept coming back.

I came to the conclusion that the problem must be deep in the current suitcase code. Maybe the last indesign updates broke something - i dont know.

My error solution was to switch to another fontmanagement tool. It now is working flawlessly and fast.

Its finally fun again to work with indesign (and a load of fonts) again!

Maybe extensis will solve the problem with the next big version update. But for me, working with suitcase was hell the last months!

Sorry to hear the provided support solutions did not work for you (and possibly others).

Suitcase Fusion has a new update (version 20.0.4) due to come out with the next week or two (April, 2019). This release will contain several updates that will resolve these issues and more.

Our Development Team tests each release in attempt to provide stable releases of our software to ensure the user experience is the best possible for each release. Like other companies in the software industry, (even Adobe) we have had our share of experienced issues in the past where and have had to make changes/updates to resolve issues.

In this ever changing landscape of software, with technology and software companies such as ours, we have to continually review and re-invent ways to stay compatible with companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Abobe and more... As you may know, the software industry will always be in flux and continually move forward with many more speed bumps expected in the future.

Thank you again for your time and patronage. And, we wish you the best using your new found font solution.

Regards,

Jeff J.

Please try the following steps and then contact our Support Team using the information below:

Update:

It's Suitcase Fusion constantly activating fonts. I screen recorded it and caught it in the act. If there's any quick fix to this, I'm open ears, even though it's Extensis.

If you close all programs, you can go to the plug-in folder of InDesign and move the extensis plug-in out of the plug-ins folder. I've screen-capped a pic of where that folder is, but note that I don't use the extensis plug-in on this machine (though other plug-ins that I do use are visible).

That said, if you want to activate fonts with suitcase, this will de-activate the auto-activation, so fonts have to be activated manually.

If the answer wasn't in my post, perhaps it might be on my blog at colecandoo!

Thanks, I was hoping that wasn't the only solution. Unfortunately, I just renewed Suitcase's license so I'm either out some money and switch font managers or I have to wait for their support to give me a solution. Basically, the only reason to pay the license fee is the auto-activation plugins being functional.
