indesign publish online cover image not displaying in Facebook

Hi. I've used the Publish Online capability for many InDesign documents, and this has never happened before. When I choose to share this document on Facebook, instead of the cover image, I get a generic image. Why? I'm not doing anything differently than ever before....

It finally works on Safari FB debugger, but not on iMessage or other social platforms like linked in etc

Also when people share their links with me I'm not able to see the cover image of their links.

What if you use a PNG in the first place?

Uploading a PNG as the preferred cover image produce a correct PNG.

But still not working for sharing because of the other (unknown) problems.

I also noted that when using a big image it wasn't downscaled. Thumbnails shouldn't be MB in size.

There's a 8 MB limit on Facebook so I tried to stress the system with a larger image. So I add a 9 MB PNG image as cover and publish with InDesign. The resulting cover.png is the same 9 MB image.

I've come across a posting problem at another web service (sports management). When adding very big images as cover image in their system it would result in the same posting problems on Facebook. When reducing the image to a more resonable size like 1920x1080 px the same article can be published including the thumbnail image.

In my mind this Adobe publish ferature needs to process the thumbnail to play nice in all systems out there.

It doesn't work at all - period.  It's terrible.  Hasn't for a long time.  Every single day, droves are absolutely flocking to Canva for this one reason and I truly dont want to use Canva. Truly, it's false advertising on Adobe's part because this one feature is a pretty big deal - thumbnails are everything on social media.

For years, I watch people rack their brains out on this trying so hard, and no comment from Adobe and its never even addressed.  It doesn't work at all.
