InDesign Publish Online - Nothing happens

Community Beginner ,
Nov 06, 2025 Nov 06, 2025

After updating to 21.0 I seem to not be able to upload a large catalog file that previously I was able to.

I have done all of the following:

  • Completely logged out of Creative Cloud
  • Logged off of InDesign
  • Rebooted my computer (3 times)
  • Tried uploading much smaller documents (they uploaded)

The file I'm trying to upload is 69.6 MB and approximately 157 pages long.

When I try to upload a file, I use the process for uploading, choose all of my preferences and when I hit "Publish", nothing happens. No upload window. Nothing.

Computer:

  • Mac Studio (running parallels)
  • OS Sequoia 15.6.1
  • Windows (parallels) 11

Hello @gonink,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Could you share links to a sample file and attachments you're having trouble with after uploading them to a file-sharing service along with a small screen recording of your workflow and the problem, so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Here is a link to a DropBox folder with a screencast and the .indd file I'm trying to upload. As you can see in the screencast, nothing happens when I click publish.

Anyone have any ideas? This is time sensitive for our marketing department.

Do you have the same issue with InDesign 2025 (you can reinstall it from the Creative Cloud app if needed)?

Also, you may want to update Sequoia to its latest version (even though I doubt it affects this particular issue).

I did not and that seems to be the issue. @jctremblay seems to have found the root cause. I don't want to update manually, but I will for now until Adobe figures out the issue.

Hi @Fire2325 I took a look at your document and I have the same results as you.

After a few troubleshooting, I found out that the variable "Modification Date" is causing the issue. Nothing wrong with the variables or your document. It's working fine in 2025. So this is a bug in 2026. I will let the InDesign teams at Adobe figuring why and ask them to fix it.

By deleting the variables and replacing them with text, it successfully published.

And for what it's worth, I removed all text variables in the master pages and the file uploaded to our website just fine. FAQ - Press-Seal Corporation
