InDesign : script keyboard shortcut is not working

Hello community,

I'm having a problem with a keyboard shortcut on an InDesign file.

When I write in a text frame, as soon as I press the "n" key, the attributes are removed (back to default layout).
I've reset the preferences and there are no new shortcut sets. So I've used up all my options!

Any ideas?

Just to clarify, it's impossible to type an n, and the problem only applies to this file, not the others.

Many thanks and have a nice day!

Marie

Hi @Marie382792143c6g:

It sounds like the lower case n character was assigned to a paragraph style shortcut. Based on your words "the attributes are removed (back to the default layout)", I think it was assigned to [Basic Paragraph] but it could be a different paragraph style.

To remove:

  • Window > Styles > Paragraph Styles
  • Right click [Basic Paragraph] > Edit  [Basic Paragraph]
  • Remove the n from the shortcut
  • OK

Hi @Barb Binder ,

It was indeed linked to the paragraph style shortcut. However, there was no associated shortcut, so I added a dummy one, then deleted it, and now it's working.

Many thanks for your help!!!

Have a nice day!

Hi @Marie382792143c6g:

We see a variation of this every few months. No idea how/why it is happening, but glad you are back on track!
