This has been going on for the last few versions of InDesign AND the Mac OS. If I restart my computer and open InDesign the scripts work fine for a bit. Then all of a sudden none of them will work. When I click on any one I just get a boop noise and nothing happens. If I restart InDesign it is still the same. If I restart the computer that fixes it and It's fine again for a few minutes. I have tried everything I can think of around this or to trouble shoot it and I got nothing. It started a few OS upgrades ago. I also have multiple versions of InDesign on my Mac and they all do the same thing. All of the scripts also do it, 2 of them are pretty old but one was created last year and I have the same results from all of them. Any ideas what to try? I need to use the scripts more than I used to and I can't keep restarting every 20 minutes.
Hi @nicolleb29330557 , are you running any startup scripts? If you are, try moving them out of the startup scripts folder to disable them then restart InDesign. Starup scripts can be stored in the following folders
Applications ▸ Adobe InDesign 2024 ▸ Scripts ▸ startup scripts
Applications ▸ Adobe InDesign 2024 ▸ Scripts ▸ Community ▸ startup scripts
~username ▸ Library ▸ Preferences ▸ Adobe InDesign ▸ Version 19.0 ▸ en_US ▸ startup scripts

Can you also post one of the scripts?

Currently on Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1 but it started around Monterey.
InDesign 2024 (19.0.1) but it started with InDesign 2021 I think.
I have 2024, 2023 and 2022 loaded on my computer and they all do the same.
It won't let me upload the scripts because the file types are not supported. I also tried .zip but that's no supporte either.

This could happen if you're using a 3rd-party utility that at some point creates a havoc with your scripts (although it's just a guess). Do you have a system wide utility (or InDesign plug-in) that you're consistently using on all installations?
Also, if your scripts are AppleScript, try to run them externally from Script Editor once they stop working in InDesign. Will they work? If they do work from Script Editor, then the issue is somewhere in InDesign installation.
(If you're running JavaScript scripts then there are also ways to test them externally, but you'll need a complex 3rd-party developer tools for this such as Visual Studio Code, unless I'm missing an easier way to do so.)

You can paste the script into text. To me though it sounds your computer might be launching some process/dialog that is interfering with ID. Might be tough to diagnose.

This could be unrealted but off late even versions like 2023 of InDesign hangs on me after some minutes of usage, this version worked well for me in the past. The only thing that I have noticied is that this mostly happens when the computer is not connected to the internet. When I kill the application, the crash report also mentioned something like connectionmanager. So I think something is going on behind the scenes.

Is your computer managed by an IT department?
Could be that some antivirus application deactivates the jsx files?
Just a wild guess
