Question

InDesign shows no attributes for Variable Font

I'm trying to access the Variable Font attributes for Roboto Flex in InDesign 18.4 on Mac OS 12.6.7. InDesign knows it's an OpenType Variable Font, but when I click the Variable Font button, a collapsed empty blank pane opens without any sliders. I've tried uninstalling and reinstaling the font (which works fine in locally-served web pages). Am I missing something about installing/using these fonts for desktop publishing?

I'm on a M1 2021 MacBook Pro running InDesign 18.4 and Ventura 13.4.1(c).

I installed the Roboto Flex Variable font.

It seems to work for me:

You could try a standard troubleshooting step - restoring your InDesign preferences and caches. Here's how:

Whoops, my error. I installed the wrong (static) face. After installing the correct file, it's working properly now. Thanks for the preference deletion suggestion and the screenshot. It was helpful to know someone got it working so I should be able too.
