HI

I've uninstalled and reinstalled... can't access the drop downs, set working space or change text case! Anyone else having strange issues? I am on MacBook pro with current software.

Along with all the great advice so far

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with InDesign. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

  1. Reset preferences: Sometimes, corrupted preferences can cause software issues. To reset InDesign preferences, hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Windows) or Shift+Command+Option+Control (Mac) while launching the application. A dialog box will appear asking if you want to delete the InDesign preferences. Confirm and see if the issue persists.

  2. Check for updates: Ensure that you have the latest version of InDesign installed. Go to the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app and check for any available updates for InDesign. Install any updates and restart your computer.

  3. Disable plugins: If you have any third-party plugins installed, try disabling them temporarily to see if they are causing the issue. To disable plugins, go to the "Help" menu in InDesign, select "Manage Extensions," and then disable any plugins you have installed. Restart InDesign and check if the problem is resolved.

  4. Create a new user account: Sometimes, user-specific issues can affect the functionality of software. Create a new user account on your Mac and try launching InDesign from the new account to see if the problem persists. If InDesign works fine in the new user account, it indicates that there may be a conflict or corruption in your original user account.

  5. Contact Adobe Support: If none of the above solutions resolve the issue, it's best to contact Adobe Support directly. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps tailored to your situation and help you resolve the problem.

Remember to always back up your important files before making any changes or modifications to your system or software.
