This has been going on for a while and it's become a little unbearable on workflow.
Whenever I open an InDesign file that has a missing font, it hangs for about 2 minutes before I can start using InDesign again. I've tried various font managers, no managers etc and it just seems to be an indesin issue.
Using Windows 10. Latest version of IND

Hi @PixelTonic,
Does it happen with all fonts or just a particular font or a particular type of fonts? Does it happen with some particular InDesign files or all of them, if it's some particular files then they could be corrupted. Exporting the Indd file to IDML and then saving back to Indd could resolve the issue.
Clearing out the Indesign caches/preferences could also be tried

Hi Manan,
It seems to be completely random. I followed your advice and cleared the cache and it seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks, heaps for that!
I will monitor it thou and see if it comes back.
Cheers

Same here. Happens when opening all types of InDesign documents. Been happening for around 3-4 months.

No installed font manager. Although I guess Adobe Fonts is a sort of font manager?

Under Preferences > File Handling > ... do you have Auto Enable Adobe Fonts checked? If so, try toggle it off and see if itspeeds things up. Of course you will still have to resolve the missing fonts, but the file itself may open faster instead of taking the time to search and activate.

If it's still not resolving and is a blocker then maybe disabling the Font check in the preflight can alleviate the problem while we try different suggestion to finding a permanent solution.
P.S.:- If none of the ideas are working, probably a technical support session with the Adobe support guys could help.
