InDesign within Adobe CC-keyboard short-cuts not working

The last view of the same question explicitly states "Question Not Answered."

If it has been answered, I apologize for I could not find. Please point me in the right direction.

Have just joined due to my frustration in not finding a "plain English" solution to what appears to be a simple fix, i.e., that some, not all, keyboard short cuts within InDesign are not working, e.g., ctrl+spacebar to zoom.

PC, not a Mac

Adobe CC 2018

Windows 10

Office 2016

Would appreciate any suggestions. If the fix is complex, please walk me through step by step what needs to be done.

This is my first attempt at using InDesign, so please do not presume I know where all the commands are located.

The particular shortcut you referenced is one that is used by other applications and so may not be working as a result of the other application having precedence over InDesign. Try shutting down all other programs and see if it starts to work in InDesign. If it is actually being used by the operating system and so not possible to use that command in InDesign, then you may be able to change the shortcuts in InDesign by going into Keyboard Shortcuts under the Edit Menu and finding the commands that are not working and creating a new shortcut.

Please try to trash your preference and re-try your workflow. To trash your preference, please follow steps mentioned at Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences
