How do I buy InDesign without using Creative Cloud? And, what's the cost? Thanks.
Frank
If you want to use the licence of InDesign you have to subscribe to the Creative Cloud or to InDesign. InDesign is at the moment only available as subscription application.
If you mean, that you have to save the files in the cloud and you want to use THAT cloud as a tool and space to work, you are not forced to put content to the cloud. You will not be able to use cloud services, like many fonts or space to save files in the cloud (as you can do now with Illustrator and Photoshop and in ther f

There are no longer any legitimate offers for Adobe applications that are not subscription based.

You can't. Adobe stopped sales of perpetually licensed software years ago. If you see anything advertised as a one time cost, it's pirated software and most likely loaded with malware.

To use the CC Libraries you might need the cloud, but that is one function for CC applications.

If the installer is saying you don't have enough space there is almost cerainly something wrong on your system. Have you checked the system requirements? Are you trying to install programs you don't need along with the ones you will be using?

i have 8 gb ram, which is sufficient as per the data on site. I have 135 gb space in C:, which I believe should be enough... and how do i check if I am installing something I don't need? there is no single option asking about such thing...

8GB of RAM is insufficient for much of anything these days short of checking email and doing basic office tasks. Recommended minimum for InDesign is 16GB.

Once the CC Desktop App is installed you will be able to install only the other component programs you want to use.
For what it's worth, I have multiple versions of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, along with Bridge and the desktop app installed and the entire Adobe program files folder is using less than 15 gb of drive space. I can't say why you are seeing so much more, but it isn't normal.

You install the Creative Cloud app first--mine only takes up 816 MB. Then you install InDesign after that.
InDesign only needs less than 4GB space. Something else is going on. How much RAM do you have?

I am trying to install CC using its own installer first... I know CC shows around 800 MB when you see the details in "add or remove program..." but if you check the initial memory of C: , then install and then uninstall... there will be a huge residue. I installed in other PC, and it just ate up around 140 gigs of memory! And I uninstalled but it didn't empty that!

As far as I know Creative Cloud is required to install InDesign.
From my point of View it acts as a portal to download the applications. So you need to be subscribed to CC and signed in and then you can install the applications.
That's how I see it.
I have never even looked for a standalone installer.
