InDesign won't even start

I updated to the latest InDesign version 2024 and it just wouldn't start — I had to delete the preference files and then it worked... until I closed inDesign then I had to delete them again or it wouldn't open

This was tedious and really hindered my ability to do work. So I reverted back to InDesign 2023 (well done Adobe!) — it worked fine until today. The same problem, InDesign won't even start. I'm done deleting my preference file over and over because I want to keep my preferences and get on with my work.
