I've been making updates to an intricate file today. Now I can't save, save as, or even export it. I don't want to just quit and lose my changes.
I see that there is an update available, but can't save this doc so don't want to update.
Is this happening for anyone else?
Mac OS 13.6.3

On what drive do you save?

It's on the hard drive. This shouldn't be a factor.

Try creating a new document of the same page sizes and same margins.
On the troubled document go to the pages panel and select all the page s- and use Move Pages from the submenu in the top right corner.
Select the target document as the location - which is your new file.
Then once all the pages move over - see if you can save it from the new document.

I can't save any documents. My first clue that something was wrong was when I couldn't undo or redo actions. I thought it might be something wrong with my subscription, but all the other apps are working fine. I will need to contact Adobe.

Your subscription wouldn't affect you saving files. Something is seriously wrong.
Only thing I can suggest is to screenshot your layouts using the OS screenshot features.
Then I'd force quit InDesign and relaunch and see if the recovery data recovers the files.
If not you'd have to rebuild from your screenshots.
Sorry - but I don't know what else you could possibly do.

Thanks, everyone, for trying. I spent quite a bit of time with Adobe support and am back in business (literally).

Can you share what worked for you?

I was able to save as an .idml file, load the update, then open it back up. Adobe spent a lot of time helping me out, but didn't really have an explanation.

Hi, in the past it helps for me to delete to local caches content, while InDesign shows this problem.
On macOS it path is here: ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
