Hey there! I´m currently working in my portfolio, it´s a 40pages file with photos, but it takes loads of time to open, move pages and modify the design... I´ve uninstalled and installed the program several times but the result doesn´t change, an extremely slow working programme. Does anyone know a solution to it? Thanks in advance

There's some tips here for slow InDesign - but I've included 2 other options to try first
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/indesign/kb/slow-performance-indesign.html
================
If a document is not behaving well then try
File>Export
Choose IDML
Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.
================
Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Eugene's given you some good tips but you haven't provided system details, either. RAM, harddrive type, processor, operating system.

Hi @DiegoCayuelas ,
where are your placed and linked images stored?
On the harddisk of your Mac? On an external drive? On a network volume? On a volume of a server where you are connected via e.g. VPN?
I'm asking because I noticed a considerable slowdown of InDesign when I'm working with documents where the links of placed images point to a volume that is not connected to my machine and I'm online connected to the Internet. I'm on a MacBook Pro from 2021 with the M1 processor with 16 GB of RAM, plenty of local space on my harddisk.
Note: I can hardly work with InDesign 2023 version 18.5.0 when an alias file of a folder is stored in the User directory of my Scripts panel that points to an unconnected server volume and contains some scripts that come along with a specific project and are made available for all the team members. (Unnecessary to say, that I will abandon this workflow.)
