I solved the issue importing directly the .docx file. Apparently there is one problem with .rtf files created from Word.

For test, I tried to create the same .rtf file from Pages and the import was successful too.

My first guess on that crash report is a corrupt font - telling from "CoolType" pretty far up in the stack trace.

Here is a reset method:

1. Reset Preferences:

  • Close all adobe applications
  • Go to Locations:
  • ~/Library/Caches
  • ~/Library/Preferences
  • Rename Adobe InDesign and com.adobe.indesign to Adobe InDesign.old and com.adobe.indesign.old
  • Launch InDesign from the CC
  • Once done, set the InDesign preferences once gain with no files open
  • Open your afflicted document and test the placing of text again

Thanks for your response. I tried the reset you indicates and the crash persits. Then i can't continue to work with InDesign. I reported the crash and null response from Adobe.

Have you tried resetting/trashing InDesign preferences and restarting InDesign?
