Hi. I have a InDesign document that is 38 pages long. When I try to export alle pages to pdf, InDesign crashes.

If, however, I export page 1-37 seperately and page 38 seperately, I have no problems. But then I have two pdf's. I have tried to experiment with the number of pages, and it seem that InDesign only can export some of the pages seperately, but not them all to a single pdf. What is wrong?
(My other similar documents will export to pdf nicely)
I have the newest version of InDesign and Acrobat, everything is updated. Any suggestions?

Correct answer Derek Cross

Try this – divide the document in half and open each half in turn. If one half opens OK but the other half crashes (let's call it the "bad" half), divide the bad half again and repeat the exercise until you (hopefully) isolate the issue.

Which (exact) version of InDesign and OS?

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?

Have you tried resettting the InDesign preferences?

If you have the correct system specs and resetting preferences hasn't resolved the issue, save the document as an IDML doc and reopen it as an InDesign doc and try exporting it as a PDF again using one of the Adobe PDF Presets.

Thank you for the answer.

Specs:
InDesign 19.0.1
Windows 11
16 Gb RAM
500 Gb free hdd
I have tried to reset InDesign preferences.
I can export to IDML, but when I try to open the idml, InDesign crashes with no explanations.

Hi Derek

I tried to locate the problem like you suggested, and I think I'we found the culprit. I removed a seemningly normal table like so many others from the document, and converted it to a pdf (with no problems), linked it to the document, and now it seem to work. Mysterious - I cannot see anything unusual with the table...

Thank you for your time 🙂  Ole
