I'm at the point of creating an index. Using latest version, but screen shots with various 'how-to' posts seem not to duplicate when I open my mac. My question is ... I noticed when using 'find' in index panel that an old database came up from a previous index I did. Is this normal? Can I delete the old index database? I want an empty databasee for the new index. Thanks

The listings in your Index panel are being drawn from index markers in your document. If you want to clear them all out and start over, then you can do a Find/Change to remove them.
Copy one of the markers and paste it into the Find Field, and leave the Change to field blank. This will find and remove all the markers, which will remove those references from your Index panel.

Another way old entries can hang around is if they were cross-references, because those aren’t tied to a page marker. I sometimes see those when reusing an old document.
To find them, click the Index panel menu and choose Show Unused Topics. Then delete all topics you don’t want to carry forward.
