Inherited Indesign Document with one parent page style

I inherited an Indesign document with facing page layout and only one parent page A.  The page numbers are centered at the bottom of the page.  The client now wants the page numbers located on the left and right hand corners of the page. How to I get to this without wrecking the layout?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Mike

Simply add another page to parent A. You can change the number of pages of a parent page. From my German InDesign where I selected the page in Parent A and opened the Parent Page options from the flighout menu:

Simply type 2:

But you don't have to for page numbers - just align them away from the spine and it works.

They don't want to change too much - and it's the easiest way.

That is correct. But it is important that the page number place holders are—contrary to the screenshoot—outside the margins to avoid conflicts with the text and also on a separate layer on top of all layers to avoid covering drom images.

You mean setup as facing pages but only 1 Parent Page - (not 2)?

Make the text frame on the Parent Page the width of the Page

And set the alignment to be 'Away From Spine' for the text
