Hello!
I have a rectangle image that is outside the canvas on sides and I want the inner shadow to be applied on the top and the bottom of the mask. It works fine in InDesign but when I exported it to PDF, the effect is cut as if the rectangle was touching the edges of the canvas. Why is it different than it shows in InDesign?

DO NOT TRUST THE DISPLAY OF PDFs IN BROWSER PDF READERS. Check the display in free Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
Browser manufacturers and other third party PDF reader developers (I'm looking at you Apple in your Preview app) cut corners and are not considered reliable for the display of print quality publications. They don't provide a full implementation of the PDF standards. They are fine for quick looks in applications like web pages and Word docs but not for professional publishing.

The problem still occurs in Adobe Reader.

If your PDF is primarily going to be used for screen viewing, set your Export>Output tab as below (don't use this setting for highend print destinations):

It didn't help.

OK, I've disabled "Crop images to frame" in export options and it helped in my case but now the other images aren't cropped so it's a problem when you select it in pdf. Anyway, it's probably better this way, at least it looks OK.
