Installed fonts showing up as missing after update

Hi everyone.
Yesterday I have updated InDesign and decided to delete also the cache just to make things work faster.
After that, several fonts I have frequantly used for years are showing up as missing, even though they are in the Adobe font folder. The fonts perfectly work in other Adobe software like Illustrator and Photoshop.
I tried to install and uninstall InDesign, install and uninstall the fonts. Didn't work.

Now all my work is stuck because I used those fonts. I've contacted Adobe Support, which kept redirecting me from agent to agent for 2.5 hours. I spoke with 7 people. The last one said that I will receive a callback in 24 to 48 hours, which is ridiculous, as my clients are waiting, and I have already wasted 2.5 hours answering the questions of agents who couldn't help me.

I've seen a similar bug addressed in the forum, but no answers or solutions were mentioned, so I am sharing this issue again with the hope that anyone here experienced this and found a solution.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi All,

We appreciate your patience. The issue is fixed with the latest InDesign version (17.2.1). Please update InDesign to the latest version and see if that helps.

If you still experience the issue on the 17.2.1 version, then please try resetting the preferences. It will fix the issue.

Let us know if you need further assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi @yerkanian @dbeattie-rcb @Aristotle_CDE @Andy5C85 @Jeremy AB @debk89864844,

We are sorry for the trouble. We are able to replicate the issue at our end with multiple fonts on v17.2 & in some instances, on v17.1 as well. We have logged a bug a with the product team last week, and they are currently investigating the issue.

I would request you to upvote this UserVoice (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/44970238-installed-font...) if not done already. By doing this, you will keep on getting updates related to this issue.

Also, if possible, please share the download link to the fonts which are not showing up in Indesign here or via DM with me.

In the meantime, you may install the older version of Indesign v17.0.1 or earlier until this issue gets fixed.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi Anshul, switching to 17.1 didn't help me. I've tried all the 17 versions but eventually had to go to 16.4 to be able to work normally. The problem was not only with the several fonts not showing up, but also with InDesign crashing when opening the fonts list in the Character panel, and scrolling. Also, files were loading very slowly, probably due to the issue with the fonts.

Here are the fonts that were not working after the update
https://www.typotheque.com/fonts/fedra_sans/armenian
https://www.paratype.com/fonts/pt/noah

there were others as well, but I don't remember already which ones.

Thanks for sharing the link to the font @yerkanian and other details. Until the fix gets released, you may keep on using the InDesign v16.4.
