I am currently creating an interactive pdf with Indesign 2023. I am having trouble with a button that when clicked should return to the previous page viewed. Under button and forms, I selected the shape, converted it to a button >> event: on release or tap >> action: go to previous view >> export interactive pdf. All of my hyperlinks to various pages in the doc work. However, the button that should return to previous view does nothing when clicked. I've tried this on both Indesign 2023 and the Beta version, but no luck...

Is this button(!) even supported at all in PDF by the way, or ePub only?

It is supported in PDF (View > Page Navigation > Previous View), so it should be exportable in an interactive PDF.

In Acrobat, activate the "Prepare Form" tool, right-click on the button and choose Properties. You should see something like this, but evidently you have something else.

It's hard to say why InDesign isn't exporting this correctly, but if you edit the button to match the above then it will work. (If not, the problem lies in Acrobat.)

I would export to IDML and create a new InDesign document to see if the situation persisted. That might be all it takes. It's unlikely that the problem requires resetting your InDesign preferences, but you never know.

If all of that fails, report it as a bug on indesign.uservoice.com.

Thanks for the help! I'm looking at the button properties in Acrobat and the button settings match the image that you sent. I also had a colleague try and recreate the button from scratch using his computer/inDesign, and the same problem occurs. I guess I'll have to report it as a bug.
