Interactive, fillable words withing the paragraph

Hello guys, Need your help for this! Will try my best to explain properly

I want specific words within the paragrapf to be interactive, and when I export to PDF, eveyone to be able to replace them with what they want.

Example:

----------------------------

In order to properly manage a Cash Balance plan, <Advisor Firm Name> has assembled a team of highly specialized professionals each serving an essential function to the plan.

----------------------------

In PDF, those 3 words <Advisor Firm Name> need to be editable, and user to fill in their Company name.

Is that possible?

Thanks!

You would have to use form fields. Unfortunately, InDesign doesn't let you include default placeholder text inside a form field, so that is an additional step you would need to add after exporting the InDesign file to Interactive PDF.

An additional problem would be that the width of the form field would be fixed, so if the Firm Name is very short, you risk unsightly white gaps fore and aft.

If there is a limited number of firms, consider using a dropdown list with all the various options prepopulated, perhaps, and have the default choice as the placeholder text you want.

Otherwise, considering using something like my commercial FormMaker InDesign add-on, which would allow you to add default text in InDesign, as well as adding a small custom script to make it disappear when someone clicks on the field. It's free for short forms: https://www.id-extras.com/products/formmaker/

You can do this with a PDF form text box.

No I cant. Because the text <Advisor Firm Name> dissapear in the PDF, only the form field is visible. Or that can be fixed somehow???

You can label the field.

(But the paragraph will not reflow.)

Thanks for your time Derek!

Do you think there is a way the form too look like for example login boxes in website or mobile app. Where the description text is inside the box, and then it is replaced by the User name ?
