Interactive PDF Button Conflict

Clicking the white target button in the attached PDF triggers four hidden buttons, three of which have actions. These three action buttons work fine unless the user accidentally clicks the large "Item Photo" button, making the other buttons unclickable until the user either hits "Escape" or clicks somewhere outside the button in order to deselect it.

Is there a fix for this either in InDesign or in Acrobat? Maybe an action or script that can be added to have the "Item Photo" button deselect itself when clicked? I know there are other formats that would be more appropriate but I need to keep this as a PDF. Thanks!

Add a hide action to that one so it does the same thing as the close button.

I don't want to hide it... I need it to be visible until the user hits the "Close" button. It's really just a background image that I had to make a button so I could hide it until triggered.

I don't know what to tell you. This type of thing is wonky at best even in Acrobat.

On a mobile device or third party PDF reader it's a total crapshoot.

This type of thing is seen on the web all the time and simply clicking the background closes it. And that's what it should do here.
