The one's existing when the document was made i.e. CS4 have very little chance of being changed. The only thing is if some new have been added since then. For that case you can always come back here and we will find them for you.

Thanks again -
Ok, so, yes, that's what I'm asking - where can I find a current, comprehensive list?
Maybe it doesn't exist?

I am not sure if such a list exists except the one I shared. Adobe has not released a comprehensive one the last time I checked. I would still suggest that you start your work with the list I gave and do let us know if you come across some character not in that list.

I use both: with both of them, I can usually find what I need for all kinds of programming and automation with InDesign ... GREP, traditional Find/Change, automated publishing, HTML.

And thanks to both guys — @Mike Witherell and @Marc Autret — for creating these comprehensive lists. So helpful to the industry!

My listing also includes icons you will see in InCopy. I recently added an extra page of written term definitions. I must say, tho, with the last 4 years of InDesign, it is hard to spot all the onscreen ornaments and icons. I hope I found them all!
