ISOnewspaper26v4 doesn't give 240% ink coverage?

Hi,

I'm preparing documents for print in newspaper so i'm using the preset NewspaperAds_1v4_IND4

(or GWG2015_NewspaperAds_CMYK) with ISOnewspaper26v4 to generate the pdf's.
My expectation was that the darkest area's in the document should go near the maximum 240% ink coverage. But although there's is plenty of full RGB black the pdf never exceeds 216% ink coverage.

Is there a reason for this, am i missing a setting somewhere? Attached an example.
Thanks for any idea's!

Thanks, that's also new to me, complicated business.
For me it also works to not only select Newspaper setting when making the pdf but before that, set the colour settings in Indesign to GWG2015_NewspaperAds_CMYK, which makes RGB black convert to 240%.

Hi @markd66074679 , The Conversion Options Intent you have set in Color Settings would affect the black point’s total ink. You can also set it for the document in Edit Assign Profiles...—Relative Colorimetric converts to 217%, but Perceptual converts to 231%

For images set Default Image Intent

Found this page that says the ink limit is reduced to 220%: https://proofing.de/topics/isonewspaper26v4/

Thanks, i didn't know that. But i guess that only works if you install and use this new ISOnewspaper26v5.icc profile.
I'm using the old ISOnewspaper26v4. Also this 26v4 version (and ink limit of 240%) is what's being advised at all printers websites here in Netherlands.

I think i found a solution:
– import GWG2015_NewspaperAds_CMYK.csf into Adobe Bridge
– select this setting in Bridge
– open the Indesign file, adjust color settings to NewspaperAds profile

– Indesign exports with the correct ink limit of 240%.
