the text Aligning in Tables in In-design after the last update not working .. the issue details shows in the below screen shot:

Go to Preferences -> Advanced Type  -> Type Contextual Controls and disable both preferences here.

Not sure, but it worth to try.

Hmmm. It's working for me (Mac 10.11.6, InDesign 2017) with or with out Type Contextual Controls disabled. (Although I am routinely keeping it off for now, because it does cause trouble for a lot of people on Macs, as per winterm​).
