Hello, i designed business cards with qr codes using adobe indesign and sen them to print and faced 22.000tl of financial loss just because i trusted adobe softwares. How can it be that the "generate qr" feature in indesign wont support utf 8? And how can you explain that a print design software such as indesign wont support iphone device compatibility with iphones? How can anyone trust your company? Just because this negligance, i have lost my client, and also have to pay the 22.000 TL loss....

If you and the client didn't test this thoroughly, you've learned a very valuable lesson. I'm sorry about the financial loss but it wouldn't taken about five minutes to print this out, test it and then start looking into it.

I haven't got access to an iphone, and i dont prefer to reach out for a person with an iphone for each bussiness card. Since i was very bussy i only tested all of them with my android device, qr's that i tested were printed on a paper and worked for iphone. And me being not able to test all of them on an iphone is not my fault. Some of the qr's are working, some of the ones that i didnt test fail to work. And there is a failure of local language caracter's display in most of them through an iphone. I obtained written approvals from each person.

Sorry about your losses. When creating the QR code, you need to use the "Plain Text" type with VCARD version 4.0 code, instead of the "Business Card" type.

Yes i have found out that this was the correct approach 😞 but why the business card feature deceives the users this way? Do you have a mail address for adobe support? I want to send a complaint mail

I'm sorry, but what do you mean be "deceives"?

It's your responsibility to check if QR Code has been generated correctly.

What if the source encoding would be wrong - or worse - you had something else in the clipboard...

Not sure what do you want to complain about?

OK, I just saw your other replies - do ALL codes read properly on Android?

Have you printed a sample page and tested / scanned codes before sending to the printer?

    In addition to other questions:

-Did the codes work before you approved the cards for print?

-What specific problems did you encounter with the QR codes?

I always keep my indesign software updated via adobe creative cloud application. The version is not the problem here, by implementing "generate qr code" feature, adobe should have provided the necessary compatibility standarts across devices. Since iphones are widely used along with android phones across the world, this feature should have been tested before (in beta versions etc) giving access to the users. Generate QR feature is a very simple part of the software but it was not implemented correctly. It's a pity that free online qr generators are trustable instead of adobe softwares.
