I'm having real trouble with InDesign with moving objects or text frames. When I use Select to click and drag /move anything, rather than it move from it's current location, it seems to automatically relocate and move from a position way over to the right/down???
I have tried resetting my preferences. The only way I have resolved the problem was to uninstall and reinstall the software completely... This solved the problem for about 10min but the issue has come back?!!
Any help much appreciated as I have failed to find anything about this problem online. The screenshot I have shown is where I have used Select and clicked in the centre of the square (blue outline shows where it then 'jumps' to).
The problem started with both versions I had installed of InDesign.
It's not an issue with my mouse as I have no problems with other software including Adobe Photoshop etc.
PLEASE HELP!!! THANKS
What version of Windows - did you update it recently - recent Windows 11 patch has caused issues with some other apps (not Adobe) recently.
Can you try rolling back the update on Windows if you're on the latest 24H2
Alternatively - I'd try starting Windows in Safe Mode - as a test - see if the issue persists.
If it does you know it's not a 3rd party app.
If it's working, then something is interfering with InDesign.
You can restart in normal mode.
If the issue is still there - then try q

I'm using 20.1. I'm not sure which older version I was also using, 19.? but once it started, it also spread to that version too.
Thanks

What OS and exact version?
If on a Mac, do you run the Magnet app?

I have the same issue with the last version (20.1) update of InDesign. I uninstalled it and installed it again, but it is not working properly.
I am on a deadline and can't work like this. Can somebody help me, you, and everyone else having this problem?

You would've to downgrade to the previous minor version - 20.0.1 or even 20.0
But if you are on a Mac - it's another can of worms...
Can you go back to 19.5?

So for those whom have a work computer and updates are managed by IT. Do we know when this might be fixed? As it's really, really annoying.. and yes, I have asked to be rolled back, it can't due to company policy. So, are they going to fix it?

Hmm, not a good look for Adobe. Suggesting that users should hold off updating Windows software is not a great answer, as that can cause significant security risks.

My security updates are usually listed separately from the OS updates. It's possible it could be some sort of driver update too. I'm not having any issues (knock on wood...)

Get your IT dept to revert/cancel last Windows update (and put pause on Windows updates) while Adobe do fix.
Not Ideal but in short term has worked for Me.

What makes you think it is Adobe and not a Windows issue?

Odd-I'm on 24H2 and not having any issues described by the OP. However, I am using Windows Pro. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Hi Rosella,
Did you get it fixed? Any update?

Hi. I have managed TO GET THIS FIXED. As mentioned above, it appears to have been caused by the latest Windows update circa 3 days ago. I have got this update removed/reverted and put a month's pause on Windows updates.
It seems to have fixed the problem for now.
Thanks
