Question

issues within the text field

If I insert a link in my text field, the texts are no longer visible. I found out that the problem is mainly with links with the extension ".html".

Example:

Copy the url and paste in my text field:

https://portal.tirol.gv.at/weboffice/tirisMaps/synserver;jsessionid=7A98789192F64F735CD82CD9B4BA3D46?synergis_session=8416ff3b-cd6f-4388-acac-b5b2858181dc&user=guest&project=tmap_master_html

After that the text disappeared completely.

Is there a setting that prevents the html issues or can you fix it with an update?

Thank you very much.

Best regards from vienna.

    Hi Marcel:

Can you share a screen shot?

Hyphenation settings will certainly have an impact but I'm not seeing the entire URL disappear.

    Default Hyphenation:

    Hypenation off:

Loosening up the After First/Before First restrictions:

Doesn't happen for me. The long URL breaks over a few lines in a narrow

    text frame.

Do you perhaps have the "no break" attribute applied to the text?

Curious. No, I did not activate "no break". I use an Apple MacBook Pro macOS High Sierra.

By the way: "no break" in the meaning of verbal separation?

    Best regards...

No break is a character-level setting that tells InDesign not to break those characters across lines:

    Prevent unwanted word breaks

By using nonbreaking hyphens, you can prevent certain words from breaking at all—for example, proper names or words which, when broken, become unattractive fragments. By using nonbreaking spaces, you can also keep multiple words from breaking—for example, clusters of initials and a last name (P. T. Barnum).

    Prevent text from breaking

    • Select the text you want to keep on the same line.

    • Choose No Break from the Character panel menu or the Control panel menu.
