Good afternoon to all,
provided that in Adobe InDesign CC (2017) [I have the ME edition] there is a NON-JOINER metacharacter (i.e. ^j for text and ~j in GREP), could anyone tell me which is (if it exists) the JOINER metacharacter for text and/or GREP search and replace?
Working on a Japanese text, until now I have inserted a JOINER between two ideograms and then I have created GREP search and replace patterns copying the JOINER in the replace field as follows:
Thank you for your help.
Claudio
according to this table https://www.indiscripts.com/blog/public/data/idcs4-special-characters/en_InDesignCS4-CS5-SpecialChars.pdf
try:
text search: <200D>
grep: \x{200D} or \u200D

Thank you Oleh,
it works as I was expecting, both in text and GREP search/replace.
As I have not an East Asian (Japanese) edition, and according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_breaking_rules_in_East_Asian_languages, I have finally created two GREP search/replace patterns: one to insert a "Zero Width Joiner" before Japanese characters not allowed at start of a line and another one to insert a "Zero Width Joiner" after Japanese characters not allowed at end of a line.
Thank you again.
Claudio
