Keyboard Shortcuts Started Doing Bizarre Things

For years I have used Control-Shift-Alt-D to fit an object to a frame.

A few days ago, InDesign started doing something bizarre when I tried to use this shortcut.

Now, instead of doing what it is supposed to, it recreates the object in a new frame.

Does anyone know why it is doing this and how to fix it?

I am trying to find out why the shortcut stopped working per the defaults and how to fix it.

We can change the default keyboard shortcuts (Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts) but to the best of my memory, neither Shift+Alt+Ctrl+D (Duplicate) or Shift+Alt+Ctrl+E (Fit Content Proportionately) has ever changed in the default set.

You could have been using a customized shortcut set. If that is the case, you can open Keyboard Shortcuts and check the Set menu at the top left.

The keyboard shortcut to fit an object to a frame in InDesign is Control-Shift-Alt-C.

No, this is not the case.

There are two different shortcuts.

Control-Shift-Alt-C

Control-Shift-Alt-D

The shortcut you mentioned creates a different affect. It causes the image to fill the frame even if some borders become hidden.  That is not the shortcut I am using.

Also, this is aside from the point of my post.  I am trying to find out why the shortcut stopped working per the defaults and how to fix it.  I am not asking which shortcut to use.

The only instance that I can find of that particular shortcut at all is in this old thread https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/duplicate-shortcut-ctrl-alt-shift-d-not-working/td-p/11328782 in which the command you've mentioned is supposed to do just what you say it is now doing for you but was not working correctly in that thread for some users. Did you have that shortcut set up as a custom one? If it was a custom one then possibly there is a new program or utility that you have running that is co-opting it. Try rebooting your computer and only launching InDesign. If the shortcut now works the way that you want it then you can relaunch other apps one by one until the shortcut stops working again. Which ever program was last launched is the culprit.

The screenshot below shows the shorcuts for fitting an image. If your menus are showing something different then please post a screenshot.

Also please post the exact version of InDesign that you are using.
