I have a 900 page novel all formatted when I discover my pages need to resize to a larger size.  I can get the pages adjusted, but how do I mass change the text box sizes (ie mass margins) and how the devil do I move the page numbers down an inch?  I can't seem to affect them at all.

    Hi Ladythorene,

sorry, did not see your reply before I sent my last post.

    Ok. Back to your issue.

How exactly is the page size now?

To what size should it be changed?

Should the pages be simply resized with all their contents? Or do you want to reflow all your text so that after the change of the page size more ( or less ) pages are needed to contain the same contents?

Its an old copy of my sister's that was on the laptop she loaned me for the project.  you use what you have.

it started as 5*8 but needed to go to 6*9.  I figured it out though.  Going to file-document presets, I changed the page size.  Then I finally figured out how to affect the masters which solved my problem.  Took me most of the day.

    Hi Ladythorne,

to get the exact version number of your running InDesign:

Hold the Cmd key when on Mac OS X and go to About InDesign.

When on Windows hold the Ctrl key and go to Help > About InDesign

    Right, TAW.

That would be the most cleanest way.

FWIW: There is a dramatic change from InDesign CC 2018.1 to InDesign CC 2019.

CC 2018.1 down to CS5 had Layout Adjustment.

CC 2019 now has Adjust Layout.

Two functions that look alike from the name, but do very different things.

So I think we first need the exact version of InDesign the OP is using before suggesting anything.

It depends on the nature of the novel somewhat, but if it's basically 900 pages of plain text threaded together in a single story, it may be easiest to start a new document at the right size, and copy-paste the text into the new document.

If you're using InDesign CC you can choose File>Document Size. From the bottom of the dialog box choose Adjust Layout.

How successful this is will depend upon what size you're changing from and what size you're changing to and how different they are. If the two sizes share the same proportions, results will be better.

As for the page numbers, if you created these on a master page(s), once you have changed the document size, you can edit the master page to move the page number position. This will then effect all the document pages that are based upon that master page.

     Hope this helps.

it would if my dialog boxes looked like yours. I don't have a document size, only a document setup.  Here's my images:
