Latest version of InDesign is removing bold fonts

I'm unclear: why would you change the view display quality to Fast? All that does is hide the graphics.

Using a search utility like "Everything" see if you can find and delete all the multiple instances of that suspicious font. Then, you can re-install it in only one place (like C:\Windows\Fonts).

Fonts get confused when they are installed in the system AND by Adobe fonts AND maybe also in a Document fonts sub-folder. Have only one place where it is installed.

I am also having this issue since I finally upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. 

When I View > Display Performance > Fast Display, it still shows the boldface text.  However, when I view > Typical Display, it does NOT show boldfaced fonts in boldface.  Ditto when I export the file to a PDF; it's all vanilla text.

Using Sitka and Sitka Text Bold.  I've tried to install the Adobe version of these fonts but cannot; I get an error that duplicate fonts with that name already exist, but I cannot delete them since Windows considers them system fonts.

The problem occurs on all of my existing INDD files that had boldface, and on new files as well.

What typeface, specifically?

There can be other reasons that cause this. 

I doubt it is the 20.2 version, per se.

Thanks for the update. Could you please confirm if this is happening with a specific font or multiple fonts? Also, is the font being used from Adobe Fonts or a third-party source? If it’s an Adobe Font, try signing out and signing back into the Creative Cloud desktop app. If that doesn’t help, try clearing the font cache and update. Reference: https://adobe.ly/4jaIQfE

Also, as Robert mentioned, do let us know if the bold formatting in the original file was applied using Paragraph/Character Styles or applied manually.

Can you provide more detail?

Do you mean when importing - placing / pasting?

Or in the already existing text? 

Do you use Styles - Character / Paragraph Styles - or just local formatting? 

Can you share some screenshots or a sample INDD file - and text file you're importing?
