left-hand pages only in linked text frames, ditto right

I know how to manually link text frames on master pages, and individually between individual page layouts.

It would be enormously convenient if I could make a master page with automatically connecting text (like the primary text frame) running vertically down all left-hand pages. A similar set-up for all right-hand pages.
When I flow text into the left-hand page, it fills page 2, then 4, then 6 etc.And obviously when I flow text into the right-hand page it fills all the odd-numbered pages.

If I create a new page (or spread), it automatically links to the left- and right-hand text links.

Is there any way to accomplish this in InDesignCC? (I'm on a Mac if that matters)

I would prefer not to have to do it all manually if I can avoid it...

Thanks for your time!

The way to do it is to set up a master page with facing pages (which happens by itself if your document is set to facing pages).

Then draw a text frame on the left-hand page on the master, and another one on the master's right-hand page. Don't link the 2 frames together.

Now, back in the live document pages, when you place text onto left pages, it will autoflow onto left-hand pages only, and likewise for right-hand pages.

OK, I tried this again, once with primary text frames on and once off.

Then created new left and right text frames, not linked to each other.

I then tried flowing text into page left 2.

When the primary text frame is on, text flows normally left2 right 3 left4 right 5

When the primary text frame is off, text flows into left2, and stops. I have to manually link to left 4, etc.

So apparently I'm still doing something wrong.
Can you attach a sample file here?

I thought I had tried that with poor results... but I shall try it again to see if I did it right the first time!

Thanks, Ariel.
