Links from Google Drive 'modified' perpetually

Hello,

from work I am using Google Drive in my Finder, and linking files into InDesign from there.

Every 5th or so link that I include is perpetually set to 'modified'.

Updating the link fixes it for approximately 2 seconds. Relinking fixes it the same way.

After 2 seconds, the link is once again set to 'modified', and the linked file is blurred in exports.

This is extremely annoying as it forces me to package all files and move them out of the folders onto my desktop for every single little preview and export, and then all back again.

It is making working with InDesign almost impossible.

This seems to happen to random links. It is not dependent on being inside a specific folder or file type, or having a certain chararacter in the file name.

.jpeg, .psd, .ai, .svg etc etc are all affected the same, but not all files, just every 5th or so link I import into my InDesign document.

I have reset and trashed cache and preferences and reinstalled all CC products several times.

This also affects Illustrator.

CC version 5.8.0.592

InDesign version 17.3

Illustrator version 26.4.1

Mac OS Monterey 12.5

Officially, InDesign does not support working directly on a remote service like Google Drive. This isn't new.

Resetting, resintalling, etc does nothing. Mac OS has exasperated the situation over the last few updates including Monterey.

Some suggested workarounds is to turn off the auto sync/backup that is causing the modified dates in your files while working. The other is to work locally then transfer to Google Drive to backup.

Many times constant modification occurs when the time on the internal clock of the server does not match exactly the time set on the local computer. For most Mac users the internal clock of he computer is controlled through the Date and Time System Preference to set the time automatically through the internet. Therefore, if it is possible, try to reset the server clock to match the Mac time and see if that fixes the problem.

In the past I preferred to use Dropbox for that reason. Now, I have to admit Adobe Creative Cloud works like a dream for me and colleagues/clients.
