Hi,

I'm looking for an option to lock pages in InDesign. For example, if I have 10 pages docuemnt and need to update only 2 pages then the rest of the 8 pages should be locked and I should not have access to edit those 8 pages. Basically, we need this option in revision rounds to allow the user to touch only the pages required corrections and protect the pages does not required any changes.

Kindly do the needful.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kannan:

You can lock objects in InDesign and you can lock layers in InDesign. If you organize your document so that each page has its own layer, you would be able to lock the layers for the pages. Keep in mind that someone with knowledge of layers would be able to unlock them if they choose to.

If you can't train/trust your colleagues, maybe you should consider the InDesign/InCopy workflow. In this scenario, you as the designer can make specific spreads or stories available to editors in InCopy. They can check out what you have made available to edit the content, and then check it back in for your review when the edits are complete. They will not be able to access the remainder of the document.

You'd have to lock everything on those pages. Honestly, if this is a concern you should put in writing what needs to be changed and anyone messing with the other pages gets warned and if it happens again they get fired.
