Longer URL causing overset

I need to avoid overset that is caused by longer URL. Please suggest the best way to overcome the issue.

Insert discretionary line breaks wherever the publisher allows them in URLs. In very long strings without any natural division point, add those discretionary breaks randomly every 10 characters or so.

Use a link shortener or add a hyperlink to the text. Why do you need a URL that long?
