lost CS3 with High Sierra update

I am a mere little fish in the big pond. I had CS3 for years, and for the use I have (trying to earn money, helping friends, my kids' school and everyone else but me ) I was quite happy. I make no income out of it but is it part of my life. Now, Apple has asked me to upgrade to High Sierra and, because I am a little fish and my knowledge of IT is limited, I had no idea I should not upgrade to High sierra. I have spent many many hours with Apple support and Adobe to get back my CS3. I had to try out on my macbook to get back to Lion OS. I did it, but now Indesign asks me for an activation with new serial number. I type it in and it does not work. It says it will reset the serial number by internet but despite being well connected ( i tried the safari page) it just won't work.

I am so upset as it looks like the only option I have is to pay a monthly perpetual fee to use Adobe. Not only I have all those monthly payment part of my life but this one I can't justify as I really do not make money on it AT ALL! SO UNFAIR.

You say you managed to roll back to Lion. That should be fine with CS3 but the activation servers were shut down. You must follow the procedure outlined on this page to download and install an activation free version.

Download Adobe Creative Suite 3 products

InDesign CS3 to CS6 are not supported by Adobe from El Capitan upwards. If you only need to use the latest version of InDesign occasionally you can subscribe by just the months you need it.

It's not unfair – your version of InDesign is over 10 years old and you upgraded your operating system. InDesign is professional-level publishing software and needs to be developed and updated and that means it has to be payed for; it's not really aimed at amateurs.

There are cheaper publishing software alternatives you can choose to use, such as MSPublisher and PagePlus.
