Lost inDesign file with an online review link

I am hoping someone can help me with a lost InDesign file. I shared a design file for review, but I have since lost the original file when my computer and backup drives were stolen. The link for review only points to the shared version of the file, which is stored in the cloud.

Is there a way to recover that file in inDesign or at least download a pdf version of it?

Correct answer Salibum

It's on Windows but the original device was stolen. That's why I was wondering about the version that was shared for review.

I found a solution, I just open the link in Opera then presses Ctrl+p to print the page then got a popup that allowed me to download a pdf that I then managed to edit in Illustrator.

For anyone else who comes across this: Other browsers work too.

Hi @Salibum:

The file is visible on assets.adobe.com > Your Files > Published but I don't see anyway to download it. You can highlight and copy the content on a page by page basis to rebuild the file—which will be extremely painful—but I'm not sure what else to suggest since your back-up drives were taken, too.

Looking ahead, backing up to a cloud server like dropbox would be helpful, should this ever happen again. 😞

Windows or Mac?

You might try some file reocvery techniques.

Windows has a thing called Previous Versions - which you might be able to recover.

Mac you can get specialist sofware to recover old files.

I'm not sure about the share for review and how it's hosted and where the files are.
