Mac OS Mojave Adobe InDesign 5.5 / plus Java problem

Is it true that InDesign 5.5 will probably work well if I remove old plug-ins? I saw a comment about that in a discontinued discussion.

If so, what plug-ins do I remove?

Second, I get a message that InDesign 5.5 requires that I install "legacy" Java for OS X 2015-001.

Is that okay with Mojave?

I realize that 5.5 is out of date. I successfully use it on a Mac that does not yet have Mojave installed (although it seems that it has lost the ability to make hyperlinks).

thanks

    Hi JohnM77,

I can confirm InDesign CS 5.5 WILL WORK on macOS Mojave 10.14.1. It also works with High Sierra 10.13.6. We have tested it without any 3rd party plugins. When stopping InDesign it will show a dialog that is has been crashed, this not a real issue.

You need to install this version of the legacy Apple Java version 2017-001 https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?viewlocale=en_US

    Cheers

The only thing you're confirming is that it works for YOU!

Correct, because I cannot test for others.

    Thanks for the responses.

Is InDesign CC working with Mojave yet? If I sign up, I'm not goint to have a lot of time to fool around with it before I complete a deadline.

I suggest downloading the trial and giving it go for yourself. There are known issues with CC2019 so you may want to start out with CC2018.

Just to be clear, InDesign CS 5.5 is not supported for any Mac OS later than Yosemite. It is especially not supported for Mojave which seems to be having issues even with supported versions of Creative Cloud apps. If you want to run old software your best bet is to get a used computer from eBay that has an older OS installed.

I don’t know what you heard but the fact is no matter what you do you will be completely on your own.
