Once OS Somona is installed highlighting text causes Indesgn to flicker between pages...

As has been pointed out here before, InDesign 2023 (and probably the soon upcoming 2024) are not yet ready to run Sonoma. That effect has been reported before. It's highly recommended to stay on earlier macOS versions until the bugs have been fixed.

Turn off the rulers in InDesign or roll back to Ventura.
