Maintaining InDesign File Version History with Synology NAS: Seeking Backup Solutions

Hi,  In the past I've kept my work files in Dropbox. I'm now moving to a Synology NAS for security reasons.
In the past the dropbox version history or Time Machine has saved my life (68pp magazine ID that corrupted  just before sending to print).
Slightly concerned that if I'm no longer using Dropbox and Time Machine won't back up my shared NAS drive, I'll lose this capability.

Trying to work out if snapshots on Synology will do the job but it looks a but clunky.

Are there any 3rd party backup apps that will do the job or anything else I can do to keep this capability?

Thanks!

Have you looked into third-party backkup software? For example, FolderSync looks interesting. I'm sure there are others. ChronoSync and GoodSync to name a couple.

On large projects, I make a Save-As every morning and afternoon and change the filename to show version increments either by adding a v1, v2, v3, or by adding the date into the filename like filename-2024-11-15.indd.
