How do I OPEN the master page to change the date on an ongoing newsletter?

If you can’t see the parent pages, one thing to watch out for is that the parent pages might be hidden; this happens to me a lot. If you can’t see the parent pages, drag the split bar to reveal them, as shown in the demo below.

You can also navigate to pages in the bottom of the application frame.

Once you learn a little more about InDesign, you could put a text variable on the parent page so you can change the date without going to the parent pages.

Not sure a Date variable would be appropriate here since each of the pre-defined date types refers to a specific date (creation, modification, or output), none of which probably corresponds to the date used on a newsletter, and a custom text variable withthe correct date is probably more work than just editing the number on the parent page.

@Dave Creamer of IDEAS Sure, but that's more work, I think, than just editing the date direct on the page.


Depends on how many parent pages and how many times the date is included. For example, if it's on the left and right page, that's two edits. If you have three parent pages, that's six edits.

 

If you set up a text variable, it's one edit. I failed to see how that would be more work.
