Hi!
I want to know if the change of Master pages to Parent pages in the new 17.0 version of Indesign will affect the properties in the Indesign Javascript DOM. masterPage or masterSpreads to parentPage or parentSpreads or something like that.
No, the propert names masterPage and masterSpread have not changed.

Peter, do you know if parentPage and parentSpread have been added in addition to the older terms?

Hi Creamer Traning,
property parentPage, a property of a page item, was introduced with ExtendScript in InDesign CS5 version 7.0.
Its value is a page object in a document, on a spread or a masterSpread. Or its value is null when the object is on a pasteboard.
FWIW: parentSpread is not part of the ExtendScript DOM as far as I can see.
The value of parent of an item could be a spread or a masterSpread.

Just to confirm that parentSpread wasn't added to the DOM. And as Uwe pointed out, parentPage was introduced much earlier, so that name wasn't even available.

Follow up question- I need to create a Master Page for a class assignment, but my InDesign only gives me the option to create Parent Pages. Do you know how I can fix this?

Are you referring to doing it manually--or via scripting, which is the original question of this post?
If manually, just use the parent menu options.
