Question

Missing fonts in packaged folder — not Adobe fonts.

I'm running into an issue when packaging an InDesign file — it won’t package the fonts. The fonts are not Adobe fonts. They’re their own separate font files. I have "include fonts" selected in the dialogue box for packaging files as well.

Did you update your macOS or InDesign in the past two days?

We know that updating Sonoma to at least 14.2 helps with recent InDesign issues—though not sure how it impacts packaging. Apple recommends updating to 14.2 because it "provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users" and Sonoma is actually up to 14.4 as of a week or two ago.

When you update, can you cycle back to let us know if that makes a difference with packaging?

Just to be clear, it was 14.3 that finally fixed the issues with InDesign.

What version of InDesign are you using? What OS? Did this just start happening (after a recent upgrade, for example)?

This exact question came up elsewhere the other day, and wasn't resolved. They also indicated they were not Adobe fonts (but didn't address the CJK font—Chinese Japanese Korean—question).

Everything is up to date! InDesign v19.3 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.1.1. This just happened over the past 2 days.

macOS 14.1.1 is not the latest - update to 14.4.x to see if it makes a difference.

It's also possible they are restricted.

Which fonts, specifically, are not packaging? Are these the only fonts in the document? Cany you package any other fonts?

I know they might be restricted from embedding but I've never encountered a font that couldn't be packaged.

certainly not common, but I'm pretty sure I've seen fonts that restrict you from providing to a service provider and require them to buy the license (which they are supposed to do anyway).

Are they CJK fonts?

Not that I can tell?

The fonts were previously packaged by another instructor. I de-compressed the folder, installed the fonts, adjusted the file for my students, and only the one font that I changed was in my packaged folder. All of the other fonts packaged previously were not in the folder that I packaged.

They might have been copied manually after packaging...
