Everytime I open a new document my InDesign toolbar disappears!

I know how to reopen the toolbar but why does it keep disappearing?

Or, just reset the workspace:

Window > Workspace > Reset XYZ (whichever workspace you are using).

It could be that you have set it to no toolbar in a blank document . It will then become the default.

Open Indesign and go to window-tools to show the toolbar then close Indesign. The default will then show the toolbar.

That hasn't worked.  going to Window > Control doesn't work.  I've tried all the workspaces, still no control bar.  Really annoying.  I know the Properties window does most of this but it's not as good,  as it takes up real estate that the control bar doesn't. I want it back and it's gone gone gone.  Running ID 2021. Mac OS 10.4

@Rooster-287

Here is your post from a half a year ago with the same or similar issue:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/8277230

It was solved then. Is your Application Frame on or off?

Hi @Rooster-287:

Why don't you share a screen shot with us with the Window menu open so we can see what is going on?

Instead of resetting your entire workspace (especially if you have a custom one that hasn't been saved for some reason) the toolbars you're looking for are likely found by going to Window>Control for the top bar or Window>Tools for the side tool bar.

This is the good answer.

What BarBinder suggested doesn't fix anything and can even gove you more trouble by resetting your workspace then needing to replace everything like before.

Hi Antoine

It’s a best practice to save your custom workspace — then resetting it will not cause you to put it back to as it was before.

I’m curious, though, as to why you marked Barb’s answer as “abuse”?
