Mouse Stuttering and Freezing

I have recently developed a problem whilst using InDesign. My cursor doesn't move fluidly, rather it starts 'stuttering' and sometimes freezing altogether.

I am running Windows 11 (completely updated) on a AMD Ryzen 7 5700 with 64GB of RAM. Two NVidia GeForce RTX 3060s with up-to-date graphics drivers.

I have uninstalled InDesign and deleted all preferrences and traces of the software and reinstalled and still have the same issue (the attached video is of a clean reinstall).

I have tried with other Adobe software open and no other adobe software. I have tried with my standard apps open, I have tried with nothing open. I have tried after running my desktop for a while, I have tried after a complete shutdown and restart of the desktop (I even went so far as to unplug the desktop and plug it back in so there would be no question of the restart).

The video shows InDesign after I opened it, and I am moving the mouse the whole time, you can see it freeze up and stutter. It gets worse when I have a document open. Doesn't matter if it is a brand new blank document or a previous document I have been working on.

All-in-all, this is making InDeisgn almost completely unusable which is sad since I love the software and usually use it on a daily basis.

What is the exact version of InDesign?

Can you check what are the latest updates installed in the system?

Maybe you're the first victim...

I am running Windows version 10.0.26120.3576 (anyone else find it stupid and rediculuous that Microsoft released Windows 11 and yet didn't update the version number to 11?).

Indesign is version 20.2 and it x64 (not sure if you can even get an x32 version anymore).

Hi @David25202013yd0n,

Thanks for the update! Could you confirm if the stuttering happens with other applications too, or is it only affecting Adobe Creative Cloud apps (InDesign to be specific)?

Would you mind doing a clean reinstallation of the NVIDIA GPU drivers and seeing if that helps? Also, could you confirm which GPU your monitors are connected to? If you disconnect one monitor and use only the primary display, does the issue still occur?

Additionally, if possible, try running the setup with just one GPU and see if that makes a difference. Also, have you noticed this issue in any previous versions of InDesign?

Looking forward to your update!

The issue is limited to Adobe CC items. Indesign is a constant issue. I noticed yesterday that Photoshop was having a problem when I was trying to crop an image. I uninstalled my graphics drivers and installed the newest version (released 18 March) and changed Photoshop to use "Older GPU mode (pre-2016)" under tech preview preferences and the issue in Photoshop stopped. So, that said the TLDR, new graphics drivers and the issue is  limited to InDesign.

I have two graphics cards, I have tried hooking the Samsung 27" monitor up to both of them, and it still causes the same stuttering issue.

Just tried unhooking a only using one monitor, and when I do that, there isn't as big of a problem, but there is still some stuttering on the Samsung 27" monitor.

The problem started when I upgraded to InDesign 2025 from 2024, but it was only happening occassionally, I didn't use InDeisgn much in January-February, and when I really got back into it at the beginning of March, I started having problems with the stuttering and freezing when moving the mouse exteremly often. (Sorry, I know version numbers would be helpful, but I don't want to just give them numbers when i do not know. I do keep my software as up-to-date as possible, and everything Adobe is set to autoupdate)
