Multiply tool changes colour

Hi,

I have noticed when using the Multiply tool on Indesign, that it changes the colour of the object you're editing. Any ideas how to stop this? I have attached some images to show demostrate it. With and without multiply and also how the colours come out in Illustrator (colour settings set to RGB).

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One major limitation of Illustrator is that files. Can only be RGB or CMYK. Whichever colour mode the file is in, ,that is the colour mode for all the colours in the file and all the swatches. The Swatches panel can be configured to show RGB values for a CMYK file, but the values entered will be converted to CMYK.

Because InDesign has a Transparency mode which is either CMYK or RGB - if you change your object to have Transparency it's forcing it through  transparency mode. 

 

You need to change your transparency blend space.

Fantastic, thank you! One other thing any idea why the same Red in Illustrator looks bolder when in Indesign, even though they are the same RGB configuration? See the 'Illustrator' image when compared to the 'Without Multiply' image.

It might be down to using a different colour profile in Illustrator compared to the one used in InDesign.

 

To be honest - the other reason might be that InDesign only places a proxy image of a file - that is a thumbnail preview - of the file - it doesn't actually show the real file. But just an approximation. That might explain why the colour looks slightly off.

 

The only thing that really matters is the output - whether it's PDF or another format - what does it look like - has it retained the same values as Illustrator?
