My 2021 MacBook Pro on the latest Sequoia release will not work with the Adobe 2025 InDesign

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, reset preferences, and signed in and out of the Creative Cloud application, and none of the solutions have helped. When having to launch the inDesign application, the screen is greyed out. When I open an older document, I can do everything else to make changes to the document. I can't make a new document. Please help!

2nd update: I did see the other threads in the Adobe Community Support, to shut off the show home screen and turn on Use Legacy "New Document" Dialog. It worked! Thanks!

Hi @Casey24077795ekpg,

Thanks for sharing the details! In addition to what the expert has suggested, could you try the steps mentioned in these similar threads and see if they help?

Cannot create new document in InDesign
Unable to create a new file in InDesign

Let us know how it goes! Looking forward to your update.

Hello

Been a few reports about other things influencing InDesign performance,

Magnet app, Typeface and also maybe 3rd party tools like WebRoot

If you can rule these out by quitting the applications running in the background and see if InDesign behaves normally.

If not there's more in-depth solutions to dig deeper but for now could you also try the 2 ideas below. And if not working we can take a look at other solutions.

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Here's the update:

I did both things you suggested and they don't work. I however did try turning off certain apps that run in the background, that did not work as well.
