My InDesign file will not display my linked files, although all the links are active. The Pages tab will also show the files, but it still will not display the files withing the document. How do I resolve this issue?

Your screen capture is not showing what page you're on.
If this is just happening with one file file, you could have a corrupted file. You might try saving as IDML and reopening the file (File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or Later [IDML].
If it's happening the all files, try restoring your InDesign preferences. Here's how:

Would it be possible that the layer on which the images are placed is not visible?

That's the first place I would look.

Not the case I wish it had been that simple.

Package it up and put it in a Dropbox folder. Post a link here.

I don't have Dropbox. Is there an alternative?

Edit > Preferences > Display Performance...
Is it set to High Quality or is it set to Fast (which hides images)?

Try to disable GPU preview (in the preferences > Display performances)

I didn't see GPU preview as an option to disable. I did uncheck the box that was entitle GPU perfromance, but that had no effect.

There's one other possibility but it's a real longshot. A non-printing layer with the view set to overprint preview.

Can you please share the InDesign file - you don't need to send any links or anything.
Even just a sample page - you don't have to send the entire document.

I do not have dropbox. How can I do this? Can I just zip it and post it here?

I can see the image no problem. I don't see anything that would prevent you viewing the image.
Maybe it's the image itself - as I don't have the link. But it should be fine.
you could test by placing the image in another document and see if it works. If not then you know it's the image.
Here's the order I'd try for fixing
If a document is not behaving well then try
File>Export
Choose IDML
Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.
----------------
Try resetting your preferences:
Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
